Eating Out

Borough Balti - Borough High Street. Conveniently situated next to Southwark Police Station on Borough High Street, so you can avoid that long ride in a Police van when you get arrested in there for a dine-and-dash.

Elephant Tandoori - Excellent for curried elephant. Coincidentally located at Elephant and Castle. Reasonably priced and only a small chance of Delhi belly the next day.

Fish! - Borough Market. Not just 'Fish' mind you, but 'Fish!' Guess what they serve? It's a pretty cool joint in Borough Market (apparently becoming very trendy) and it's all made of glass and stuff. Expensive but classy. Not to be confused with the imitation on Borough High Street.

Roast - Borough Market. Another uninspiring name, another classy place, this time above Borough Market. Take the parents.

Hing Loong - Borough High Street, just behind the bus stop. Open until late, mate. Very tempting if your bus takes a while - or if you're Chinese.

Tai Tip Mein - More food for £3 then you could shake a chopstick at. At the Elephant. Legendry in rowing circles. Don't be greedy and go for the buffet, stick to the a la carte menu !

China - Apparently they do a good Chinese. Contact STA Travel for details.

Alma's - Borough High Street. A good little pizza parlour that is well within your price range, even at the end of term.

Giuseppe's - Borough High Street. Best wear your suit to this one or you might offend the Godfather. In the daytime, the upstairs provides a great lunchtime deal for panini, crisps and a drink. Beats McDonalds hands down!
