It's unlikely that as a pre-clinical medic or dentist, or as a biomed, you'll have to go to St.Thomas' Hospital in Westminster very often on an academic basis, because most of your teaching will be at the Guy's Campus.
St. Thomas' Hospital is situated opposite the Houses of Parliament, along the banks of the River Thames. Come here to marvel at the nineteenth-century architecture or to eat lunch while watching the world go by, in awe at the sheer size of Big Ben's bell. You are privileged to be part of it so treasure it like you would your jewels.
St Thomas' Bar (or Tommy's) is unique. Tommy's Bar is a different kettle of fish altogether from the magnificent funky basement at Guy's. It's got huge wooden boards all around it, inscribed with the names of people from Tommy's winning sports teams!
Scrawled in chalk on the ceiling are the names of doctors that qualified in days of yore. Tommy's Bar now houses a big medical library and a common room. There's more peace and quiet than you'll ever find at Guy's for when things get really serious!
Behind Tommy's House, is the Dunhill Fitness Centre, a branch of the Thomas Guy Club, which has three squash courts and a spacious, well-equipped aerobic/weights suite. You have to pay to join, but it's not all that much and if you're in a sports club you're often allocated time when you can use it anyway.
