20th August 2009
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to King's College London School of Medicine (at Guy's, King's and St Thomas')
"The Finest Hospitals in the Land!"... This definitely won't be the last time you hear these words and as the years pass they will fill you with an ever greater sense of pride.... and possibly trepidation.
Congratulations on getting into the most applied to and therefore most popular medical school in the UK! Fact.
Now the fun starts... exams aren't 'til May so no excuses!
I recommend joining a sports club of choice, a smattering of societies and immersing yourself in the fantastically diverse community we have here at King's.
Hopefully this guide will ease your transition into the big smoke and the medical school until suddenly you're part of the furniture like the rest of us.
Hope to see you in Guy's bar, don't be shy!
Good luck!
Sam Gillett
President, Medical Society.

MedSoc (despite the misleading name) is not just for medical students, we are here for all Guy's students! We run the major events for the medical and health schools and represent your views to the college and to KCLSU. So, make sure everyone knows that we're here for everyone, the more the merrier we say, you can even bring those Strandies along if you want to.
If there is one point we'd like to stress more than any other it's ENJOY YOURSELF, bring plenty of fancy dress and a sense of humour and we can guarantee you'll get the most out of you time at GKT. Guy's is renowned for its community spirit and so to get you kick started and integrated in we have some great events planned for freshers week. MedSoc freshers events are your best opportunity to meet your future friends and colleagues and talk to the older years about your time ahead.
