KCLMS Hockey Club

Welcome to the WORST hockey club in the world!

Shrouded in mystery, tradition, intoxication, secret rituals and debauchery, this club sounds more like a hedonistic cult than a sports society. But rest assured, fronting all this vice is the pursuit of hockey perfection. Combining four women's and three men's teams, this club holds considerable sway in the ULU and BUSA Leagues in which its teams participate. With at least two tours a year and numerous socials throughout the year (including the infamous AGM), KCLMS Hockey is at the forefront of the social scene.

Sign up at Freshers' Fair and ask about Freshers' Trials and the first training session. No previous experience is required. In fact, we find it makes things that little bit more interesting!

So if you've done anything good, bad, or you just want to explore your devious side, KCLMS Hockey will welcome you with open arms!

King of all that is medsoc. This public school boy is harder than he looks being in the marines. If you do fancy giving him a slap (and tickle?) wait till he’s had a few and then he’s anybodies...

Charlie
The queen of the committee. Don’t rub this lad up the wrong way as he’ll probably enjoy it. Seemingly survives on a diet of wine and cigarettes. Makes a terrible transvestite.

B
B is one of the northerners of the group coming from the wilderness that is Herts. Sure to (Microsoft) Excel as secretary. Ho ho ho.

Cat
Its aaaaaall about the sponsorship for this girl. This Dubliner is a member of the netball team and is so hyper she’s like a Duracell bunny on ecstasy.

Corinna
A member of the girls rugby team and a reet northerner, she’s another not to be messed with. If she puts as much energy into planning events as she does when attending them, we’re sorted. Oh and she loves eating humble pie...

Dhru
The big bruv of the committee is involved in all aspects of uni being in the football team and VP of KCL Asian soc. Has an uncanny ability to only ever pull the same face in photos

Sam
One of those students you’ll learn to hate as he passes exams without even trying. A hardcore neighbours addict, meetings have to be scheduled for after six if we ever want to see him.

Luke
This oxford graduate is the fresher of the group despite actually being the oldest one here. AS treasurer he probably has one of the hardest jobs in the world after Wayne Rooney’s stylist.

Mark
Liken him to Bilbo Baggins, however the likeness is to do with his size, not a fascination of rings. Sad for him as this means his hobbit sized stomach means he can handle less than the average man. Probably doesn’t help his GORD (fresher’s you learn about this in term 2)

The GKT Medical Society was founded in 2002 to support the amazing events that take place here. Such events have traditionally been organised by GKT students themselves, not directly by KCLSU, and were overseen by the now-defunct Vice President GKT post at the Union.

However all these events, to some degree, used College and Union facilities, and relied on goodwill, informal arrangements, and behind-the-scenes intervention, in order to take place. The GKT Medical Society is an umbrella organisation under which these events can run much as they always have, but with the support they deserve.

The society is part of KCLSU, giving events the right to use Union and College facilities and resources. It unites groups of organising students, allowing them to share ideas, talent and resources, and acts as a central point of contact for students wishing to become involved. Events can be co-ordinated and better publicised, informing and involving a much broader range of students than ever before.

Uniquely within the Union, it provides encouragement and funding for students wishing to run new events, which could lead to a brand new set of social events at GKT.

The society does not represent students academically, its key role is to provide entertainment, fun and frolics for all!

The KCL Medical Society is open to all students, regardless of their course. Our name reflects our heritage, reinforces the link with the hospital and healthcare charities that we support, and helps increase our appeal to potential sponsors. There is a great deal of staff support for the Society. This year the new dean of the medical school, Professor Robert Lechler, has offered his support.

If you have any questions or ideas then please get in touch you can find our email addresses in this guide, and don't forget to look out for new events and projects. We would love your ideas too! Please feel free to voice them and we can do our best to get new events up and running.
